
Darren began his career in visual effects in 1996 as a digital artist on ‘The Fifth Element‘ and the Oscar-winning 'Titanic' at Digital Domain (Venice, CA). Over the next 15 years at Digital Domain, he had a leadership role in many projects, culminating with a position as Studio Supervisor - responsible for VFX supervision and building out their Vancouver studio team in late 2009.
In 2011 he joined Scanline VFX, serving as both a VFX Supervisor and Art Director on a range of projects from the FX-heavy ‘Godzilla‘ to Quentin Tarantino’s 65mm film-finished ‘The Hateful Eight‘. In 2014, he was nominated for a VES Award for Best Compositing on ‘Iron Man 3‘.
In recent years, he has worked as both a project-based VFX Supervisor for industry leaders Double Negative and MPC, and as an independent contractor providing on-set supervision, consulting, and post production services to major film studios such as Netflix and MGM, along with independent productions.
